My drawing process
Depending on what I’m feeling like, I'll sometimes grab a lighter sheet of paper or maybe pull out one of my many sketchbooks out. If it’s a special day I’ll start a new one. When working for clients I will also follow the same process depending on the type of project.
A dive into my sketchbook
and drawing process
When travelling
My sketchbook and paint brushes always come along when me - even if I need to squeeze them into the last inch of my suitcase. One thing travelling as a creative with multidisciplinary hobbies has taught me, is always counting in extra space dedicated exclusively to projects.
My Rituals When On The Go
When choosing a new destination, I always try to look for a place where I’ll feel inspired to create, whether that’s in a rural setting or in a bustling city, I like finding places where I can feel calm and give me room to slow down. These are afew rituals I like to follow when I'm travelling.
Capturing moments on film
For the last couple of years my Olympus mju ii has become one of my most cherished and precious items I own. I carry it with me almost everywhere I go. After first borrowing it from my friend Nick Missiaen for a couple of months, it was time to say goodbye to it. I was lucky enough to find one unexpectedly on a trip to Bilbao, lying on the dusty window of a vintage shop. I bought it straight away.
I document my film photography on my instagram account @o_jalata.
Setting up a space with intention
I love creating my own space with what I find around me, even if it's for a short time.
Making a stop at the local art store
One of the things I enjoy the most when travelling, is going to art supply shops. I find each country has so many different options to offer when it comes to paper goods, brushes and so on. I make sure to always restock on anything I need and it also doubles as a souvenir I am reminded about every time I use it.
